Close the pool

Typically closing time. A hard freeze with water in the lines is what costs people money, so we close ahead of the hard freezes. Get on the schedule and winterize right.

Capital Region timing varies with the weather each year. We use "typically" because a hard freeze with water in the lines is what costs people money — we'll tell you when the window is opening for your area.

Good to know

How the pool year works in the Capital Region

A pool year in upstate New York runs on the weather, not the calendar. Openings typically happen in late spring once the water can hold warmth, summer is for installs, liner changes, and rebuilds, and closings typically fall in early-to-mid fall before the hard freezes. The single most expensive mistake is a hard freeze with water still in the lines — that's what cracks plumbing and equipment, and it's why we close ahead of it.

The off-season isn't downtime for us — it's when the same crew moves indoors. Kitchens, baths, interior renovation, windows, siding, and decks keep the crew working through the winter with the same habits: show up on time, clean up the work area, and give honest options. So if you're planning a pool for next season, winter is a great time to get on the schedule — and to tackle the indoor projects you've been putting off.
