A deck or porch is the project most of our pool families add next, and a lot of the time we're already there. We've built front porches for the same families we just put a pool in for, and backyard decks that wrap right up to the water's edge. The same small crew that builds your pool in summer takes on decks and porches — often in the off-season when the pools are closed, but through the season too. We show up when we say, build it to handle Capital Region snow and freeze-thaw, clean up the work area, and give you honest options when something could go more than one way. A few honest tips before you start
Think about how you'll actually use it. A deck that's just big enough for a chair looks different from one that holds a table, a grill, and a crowd — tell us how you live out there and we'll size it to match.
Plan for snow and freeze-thaw. Up here a deck has to shed water and stand up to a long winter; the framing and footings matter more than the boards on top, and we'll walk you through what that means for your yard.
If a deck is going next to a pool, tell us early. A pool deck has to drain, stay clear of the filter and plumbing, and leave room to reach the liner and wall — it's easier to plan that in than to fix it after.
