Measure for a New Pool Liner - Get It Right the First Time

The most common liner mistake is the wrong size or the wrong attachment type. It's how people end up waiting weeks for a second liner. Take these measurements, send them with a couple of photos, and we'll tell you exactly what fits.

Step 1 of 6 · Pool type

Is your pool above-ground or in-ground?

Why liners get ordered wrong

Most liner orders go wrong in one of three ways, and each one means a second liner has to be made and the pool sits empty while it ships.

Wrong diameter. On a round above-ground pool, the liner is sized to the diameter. A pool that's slightly out of round, or measured once at the wrong spot, gets a liner that's too tight or too loose. Measure the diameter straight across the widest point, then measure again somewhere else to confirm the pool is truly round.

Wrong wall height. The wall height is the distance from the bottom track to the top of the wall, and it decides how much material the liner has to stretch. A liner cut for a 52" wall on a 54" pool will pull and tear; one cut too tall will wrinkle. Common heights are 48", 52" and 54", but some pools differ, so measure yours.

Wrong attachment type. Liners hang onto the wall in different ways — overlap with coping strips, beaded into a track, or J-hook (unibead) hooking over the top. Order the wrong one and the liner simply won't attach. If you're not sure, a close-up photo of the top edge of the wall tells us.
